Bono and Bill Hybels

Posted by QuietoftheLand on August 20, 2006

Bono was interviewed by Bill Hybels for the Willow Creek Leadership Summit and during the interview he stated:

“Second only to personal redemption and salvation the main thrust of the Scriptures is to meet Christ in working with the poor”.

A statement that many Christians can respect, however I and others have noticed that a number of Christian Blog sites and some Christian and non-Christian media have reduced it to:

“The main thrust of the Scriptures is to meet Christ in working with the poor.”

This is such a heretical twist of a good quote making it misleading to those who are not Christians. It will also confuse Christians who may read this truncated statement. Do you think Bill Hybels would have allowed Bono to address 70,000 Pastors if he was going to be heretical?
